ScanStation – Real-Time Incubator and Colony Counter
ScanStation is a real-time incubator and colony counter for up to 300 Petri dishes simultaneously. From the start of incubation, Petri dishes are photographed every 30 minutes or every hour. Colonies are detected and counted as soon as they appear. Discover their bacterial growth hour by hour and obtain anticipated results.
ScanStation® consists of 3 main components:
- The incubator consists of a rotating storage carousel that continuously rotates during incubation with a capacity of 300 Petri dishes. 300 Petri dishes are processed simultaneously in this insulated incubator equipped with a ± 1 °C Peltier module.
- The robotic arm transfers Petri dishes from the carousel to the camera to perform time-lapse photography. ScanStation is equipped with a pressure-sensitive gripper that automatically adapts to all Petri dishes.
- The automatic colony counter detects and counts colonies as soon as they appear. A 5-megapixel Ultra HD camera detects colonies as they emerge before clustering or overlapping can occur, while separating adjacent objects. This provides faster, more accurate results. You can view video of bacterial growth during and after incubation.

Data is stored and accessible throughout incubation until final result validation, and exported in the following formats: LIMS, mp4, pdf, jpeg, png, bmp, and csv.
Petri dishes can be loaded at the start or during incubation, with different lighting or incubation time settings. The device automatically detects the location of the newly inserted dish and sends position data to the software.
ScanStation® is a breakthrough in data integrity: images and videos of bacterial growth are saved, from the beginning to the end of the incubation process. You can recover data after the incubation date. Bacterial growth video helps validate results by showing the distinction between a particle and a bacterium, avoiding false positives. Images taken at regular intervals allow you to visualize the onset of growth of microorganisms such as molds to facilitate counting.
ScanStation® software complies with FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
